Meet Simon from Malawi, Africa
Filed under: Children of Malawi,Light of Life Ministries
Simon is one of 30 teenagers/children from Blantyre, Malawi, who need a sponsor. Most of the children have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS and don’t have enough money to buy food, clothes or go to school. Some of them don’t even know where they will spend the next night.
Our division “Children of Malawi” successfully found sponsors for 14 children/teenagers and they are now able to get enough food every day and also go to school to get an education. For more info please visit our Mission website at: www.ChildrenOfMalawi.org
If you would like to give hope to one of the orphans by becoming his/her sponsor or if you just want to make a one-time donation, you can call us at (207) 441-5584 or email us at info[at]childrenofmalawi.org. Every dollar helps and together we can make a change in their lives!
Simon’s Story
Simon is a very bright and intelligent 18 year old orphan, who has no place to live and does borrow clothes from some of his friends. Our church ministry tries to help him whenever it is able.
His father died when Simon was 2 years old and his mother married another man. His stepfather chased him away, so his uncle took him in. His aunt died of HIV, and then at age 14 his uncle died. Then his grandmother took him in, but his grandfather chased him away because he was “not his tribe.” From then on he had to live on the streets.
He found Jesus at age 14, and Jesus has become his best friend since. Simon knows how to pray, and in his most hopeless days, he has seen the kindness of God. God was there in the coldest night when he had to sleep in the street with no blanket, when his stomach was aching so bad from hunger as there was no food. Pastor Deverious Phiri befriended him and Simon joined our church ministry. Simon is now part of the Praise Team, loves to sing praises to God and dance for God. On May 22, 2010 Simon was baptized and dedicated his life to Jesus.
Schooling: Simon has been receiving meager help from our church ministry and some money so he could attend High School. In the middle of the 3rd High School year he had to stop as there has been no more money.
Hobbies: Reading, listening to Christian music, singing and dancing in praise to God, sings and writes music, he speaks English very well, loves to read his English Bible.
Professional goal: Simon would like to become an Economist, he dreams of starting a financial company to help the Christian community. He would like to become the Financial Advisor and Manager for the Ministries’ “Caregivers”.
Presently Simon has no place to sleep, no home, no money, no food.
Sponsor needs: School tuition, food, schoolbag, pens, school clothes, medical care, a place to live, to be part of a family.
